Forestry mulching in Central Texas runs roughly $1,500 to $6,000 per acre, depending on brush density, tree size, and terrain. Land clearing, gravel driveways, stump grinding, trails, and site prep are quoted by the job. Every figure here is a guide — the real price comes after a free site visit, and a minimum job price applies.
Forestry Mulching — Per-Acre Ranges
Mulching is the one service that prices reasonably well per acre, because the machine is doing consistent work. The range comes down to how thick and how big the growth is:
| What's on the land | Typical range / acre |
|---|---|
| Light — young cedar, brush, tall growth | $1,200 – $2,500 |
| Moderate — mixed brush and saplings | $1,800 – $3,000 |
| Heavy — mature cedar, dense stands | $2,500 – $5,000 |
| Very heavy — large trunks, timber | $4,000 – $6,000 |
So the honest headline is $1,500 to $6,000 per acre for most Central Texas mulching. For a full breakdown by vegetation and acreage, see our cost-per-acre guide.
What Moves Your Price
Two "five-acre" properties can quote thousands apart. The drivers are brush density (a wall of cedar takes far more passes than scattered brush), tree size (big trunks grind slowly), terrain (our caliche, rock, and slopes slow the machine and add wear), access (a tight gate, soft ground, or a long haul to the work area), and the finish you want (a fine, even mulch takes longer than a rough knockdown). Larger acreage usually brings the per-acre number down; small jobs run higher per acre because it costs the same to load up and drive out either way.
Other Services — How They're Quoted
These vary too much for a flat per-acre rate, so we quote the job as a whole:
- Land clearing & brush clearing — by the job. Traditional clearing that hauls material off runs more than mulching because of the extra equipment and disposal. What drives the cost.
- Gravel driveways — by the job, based on length, width, stone depth, base prep, and drainage. Estimate your stone with the gravel calculator, and see the cost breakdown.
- Stump grinding — by stump size and count.
- Trail & access cutting — by trail length and difficulty.
- Site prep & grading — by scope, after a site visit.
Why We Quote the Whole Job
Per-acre pricing is a starting point, not a promise. The real cost is the time and wear the job actually takes, and we can't know that precisely until we see the ground or good photos of it. So every job is quoted as a whole after a free site visit, a minimum job price applies to cover getting the equipment out and back, and you get the number before we start — no surprise change orders for conditions we could have seen up front.
How to Get an Exact Number
Send a few photos of your property — especially the thickest and lightest areas — and we can often give you a realistic ballpark before we ever drive out. For anything sizable we'll do a free on-site assessment. Call or text 737-235-1335 or request a quote below.
